Does this sound like you?

You have great parents who love you so much.  Yet, you are curious about your birth parents, especially your birth mother.

You think about beginning a search for her, but then you feel guilty.

Will the parents that raised you feel that you don’t think they were good enough?  What happens if you do contact your birth mother? Will she want to be part of your life?  Do you want her to be?  Do you have siblings or half siblings?

Something has always seemed missing.  You remember celebrating your birthday as child with a smile on your face, but you wondered if your birth mother was thinking of you.  Maybe you even had those thoughts as recently as your last birthday. And then you started feeling guilty and disloyal.  You tried to put it on the back burner again.  But the older you get, the more difficult it becomes.

I will not pressure you to do anything other than be honest with yourself and chose your own path.  Whether or not you begin a search and whether or not you contact your birth parents is not for me to decide.  I’m here to help you make peace with your decision.

Being adopted may have had a bigger impact on you than you realize.  It can feel good to finally talk about it.
